The fourth of July is a popular time of year to plan a getaway. However, be sure to book in advance, because the holiday is a lot more popular than most traveller’s realize. Prices increase sharply the closer it gets to the holiday, and paying for that increase eats into the vacation budget.
The cost of airfare is always influenced by the price of fuel and demand for tickets. Those who book well in advance are going to miss the annual increase, fortunately for them. Once on the ground, however, things are more wallet-friendly.
Rooms that haven’t been sold before the holiday are advertised or bundled with packages to sweeten the deal. Hotels are pushing value-added services in order to avoid having to discount too steeply on their rooms. Some of the extras are spa treatments, one or more rounds of golf, and complimentary meals. These add-ons make the cost of the room less painful if there is no discount available.
Those who are travelling by car to a popular regional destination are going to want to book their lodgings well in advance. Even though the destination is reachable by car, you’re not the only one who has plans to go there. Rooms go quickly, and travellers run the risk of staying at a fleabag motel for their lack of foresight. Don’t go nuts saving money for fuel and fun, and not book a room for a duration. The idea is to enjoy yourself, not worry about how much less is in your pocket because the room came at an exorbitant cost.
